The body of Willis H. “Bud” Pinkston was found Wednesday in the ashes of his three-story home along the Cottonwood River at Cedar Point. The cause of the fire is unknown, but it is believed to have started in the man’s bedroom.
Ed Winter of Marion has been named the Kansas City Royals’ “most loyal fan in Marion County.” Winter recently was notified of the honor in a letter from the baseball team. Winter says he has been a dedicated Kansas City fan since a franchise was located there in the 1950s.
Leonard Klassen left Dec. 28 on a 12-day tour that took him to Amman, Jordan; various places in Israel; and Cairo, Egypt.
Todd and Randy Svitak have purchased the former K&F Automation Engineering business at Lost Springs. The shop, offering area mechanic service, is a mile south of Lost Springs.
Marion High School’s vocational agriculture department has named two girls as “students of the month” in recognition of outstanding achievement. They are Michelle Thole, daughter of Jon and Suzanne Thole of Marion, and Beth Snelling, daughter of John and Betty Snelling of Marion.
Orville and Millicent Hett have moved to 224 S. Cedar St. from their farm in the Morning Star community.
