New birthing and mammography rooms represent significant steps in community health care at St. Luke Hospital in Marion. Both will be presented to the public at an open house Sunday.

Natalie Thies celebrated her 10th birthday with KayLeah May, Monica Sharp, Jodi Smith, and Kay Lynn Summervill. The girls went swimming, had a wiener roast, enjoyed a clown-decorated cake, and spent the night outdoors in a tent.

Several improvements have been completed at the ball park this spring and summer. One of the most noticeable has been the addition of an electronic scoreboard, donated by Pepsi Cola. In return, the athletic association signed a contract agreeing to buy Pepsi products for the next 10 years.

Mr. and Mrs. Gene Warnica and Mr. and Mrs. Morris Lee Ehrlich announce the engagement of their daughter, Gerry Ann Ehrlich, to John Vinduska, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Vinduska of Lincolnville. The couple are planning a fall wedding.

Don Hett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Hett of Marion, has won fifth place in welding at a national vocational skills contest in Phoenix. He represented Central Kansas Area Vo-Tech School of Newton.

Julie Sellers, 13, of Florence has been named winner in her age category in the state’s first election poster contest. Julie is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sellers, Florence.
