Coneburg Inn of Peabody took home first place in the “A” division of the Marion County men’s slow-pitch softball tournament in Tampa.

Two residents at Marion Manor will celebrate their 100th birthdays during August. Essie Moore will turn 100 Aug. 16 and Della Suffield will become a centenarian Aug. 6.

The boys’ 200-meter free style and free relay teams went undefeated during Marion swim team’s first season. Swimmers include Carl Abbott, Larry Dalrymple, Andy Hett, Paul Jackson, Dirk Kannady, and Brian Kramer.

Marion County Fair Association has added two attractions for the 56th annual fair: ostrich races and a lip-synch contest Aug. 20.
