In honor of Emergency Medical Service Week, Marion emergency medical technicians are pictured showing recently purchased medical equipment.

Mary Margaret Mills was crowned sweetheart of the Marion-Florence chapter of Future Farmers of America during halftime of Friday night’s football game. Chapter treasurer Todd Krispense was her escort.

Marion Country Club will sponsor a golf tournament and steak fry for members and guests in conjunction with Old Settlers Day.

Bob Seward, director of the Florence ambulance service, received a commendation Monday from Florence City Council. Seward has been leader of the volunteer ambulance crew for 15 years.

Jodi Kristek, bride-elect of DuWayne Suffield, was honored with a miscellaneous bridal shower Sunday afternoon at Lincolnville United Methodist Church. Hostesses were Sue Gutsch, Evelyn Matz, and Lyn Remy.

Phyllis Melton and Mrs. Ernest Bina attended a meeting Thursday of Kansas Mothers of the Year at Kansas State Fair.
