Senator James Pearson took time out from his duties in Washingtonto pay a visit Thursday morning to Marion. His visit here was part of a five-town tour in Central Kansas to “listen to the people.”

The second in a series of reports on homes of early citizens features the E.R. Trenner home presently owned by Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Hassinger.

Matthew Classen, president of Marion National Bank, announces the addition of Larry D. Loomis to the position of vice president, starting July 1. Loomis has been with the National Bank of Wichita for the past year and a half.

Marion attorney David Wheeler is the subject of this week’s “Personality Profile.”

Vernon Bowers was ordained a deacon during the Thursday evening service at the Kansas Conference of United Methodist Church at Kansas Wesleyan College. The Bowers family soon will be moving to Alma.

Jo Marie Mueller moved to Wichita last week and started to work as an intern for CPAs Snodgrass and Huitt on the 1st of June.

Peri Ann Schwartz, daughter of Lt. Col and Mrs. Richard Schwartz, was one of two eighth grade students chosen recently to play on the Seoul-American High School baseball team.

“Little Marvel” is the name of the peas that are the first entry in this year’s annual Marion County Record “Produce Derby.” Mrs. Raymond Kraus planted them Feb. 28 and picked them May 31. They are extra long — some of them having as many as 12 peas per pod.
