The public is invited to tour Marion on Pacemaker Day, March 10. Starting at 2:30 p.m., tours will show off some of the attractive aspects of the community, point out Pride projects, and in general promote the town.

Pat Loney, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Loney of Marion, was named outstanding diocesan youth by the Wichita Catholic Diocese Sunday.

This week’s “Personality Profile” by Ruth Meyer features Gerry Seibel, Marion County’s clerk of the district court.

Sharon Costello, this year’s Centre basketball queen, presided over a homecoming victory Feb. 17. Scott Gutsch was named king. Queen attendants were Theresa Alvarez, Gayla Gutsch, Cathy Madden, and Kerry Triggs. Their escorts were David Mueller, Jim Costello, Donald Mueller, and Russ Kerbs.

A feature story by Nancy Hart tells of time she and her young daughters, Annie and Janie, spent in 1976 as she taught in Yemen.

Several students from Marion High School will be among those competing Saturday in the federated clubs’ Fine Arts Festival at Chapman. Competitors will include Janelle Bowers, public speaking; Miriam Priest, Sherri Kelly, and Julie Hett, piano; and Jeff Griffith, Becky Vinduska, Miriam Priest, William Kroupa, Doug McElhiney, Doug Heerey, Kelly Bartlett, Troy Bridges, John Slifer, and Theresa Kroupa, art.
