A weekend of memory, reflection, and centennial celebration is in store for members of Marion Christian Church, and anyone interested in attending any of its anniversary events. The weekend events will commemorate the church’s 100 years in Marion.

Ensign Daniel Holub, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Holub of Marion, has received the Navy Achievement Medal for “superior performance” while attached to Attack Squadron 94 aboard the USS Coral Sea.

Marion High School principal Martin C. Tice is pictured as he accepts the first issue of a new school newspaper from editor Debbie Kreutzman. Staff members looking on include Julia Carr, Alice Hockensmith, Kris Kelsey, Mary Medina, Jami Shirley, and Ann Waner and adviser Julie Fisher.

Golden wedding celebrations announced in this issue are those of Mr. and Mrs. Godfrey Jirak of Marion and Mr. and Mrs. William Schwartzman of Tampa.

The Florence Wildcats girls’ volleyball team closed out an outstanding fall campaign Thursday night by defeating Herington, 2-1. The Wildcats went undefeated this season, sporting a record of 6-0.
