Morton Diament, an American citizen who has been practicing medicine in Scotland for the past several years, and his wife, DeLille, have moved to Marion. He will be welcomed May 6 as a new physician at St. Luke Hospital.

This week’s Personality Profile features Joseph Slomski, parish priest at St. Patrick’s Church in Florence.

A feature article by news editor Mike Heckman tells how Wes Just, remembering his childhood without a bicycle, has made many Marion youths happy by repairing and sometimes selling repaired cycles. The Justs moved to Marion in 1956 after he suffered a heart attack and had to quit farming. He spent 21 years as custodian in Marion schools and now, after retiring, is repairing and selling bicycles as a hobby.

A swarm of motorcycles Sunday morning buzzed into Marion. They were the Wichita Sunday Riders out for a refreshing tour of the countryside. Forty machines with 55 riders came to Marion to have breakfast at the Owl Car Café and then went back to Wichita, taking a scenic route over K-150 to Strong City and through the Flint Hills by way of Matfield Green and Cassoday.
