Saturday will be a big day in Marion. There will be a full program of events to appeal to people of all ages — and not the least of these will be the “first annual” tiddlywinks tournament.

Other events will include a free square dance, a slow-pitch softball tournament, and a “roll back prices” sale by Marion merchants.

The subject of this week’s personality profile is Margaret Pickering, Marion’s Pride chairman, who is leading the work toward a second Pacemaker award.

About 70 Florence Middle School sixth graders toured on Friday the construction site of the Wolf Creek nuclear reactor near Burlington. A nuclear power specialist rode on each bus and fielded questions from the students.

Robert T. Stephan, attorney general of Kansas, will be commencement speaker at Marion High School graduation exercises Tuesday in Marion gymnasium.

Doug Webb and Carl Wolf are pictured as they practice putting at Marion Country Club. The pair has qualified for the state golf tournament Friday at Hesston.
