A $25-a-month cost-of-living increase has been added to the paychecks of all county employees except county commissioners.

St. Luke Hospital could become the center for a proposed home health agency that would serve Marion County residents.

A health agency was discussed July 11 by Ron Cork, hospital administrator, and about 30 members of a newly formed county senior citizen group, temporarily named “The Builders.”

Janet Hett, student at Florence Middle School, won the Kansas Woman’s Christian Temperance Union essay contest for junior high students. Her essay, “What’s Wrong with Tobacco — Its Use and Effects,” will be entered in national competition.

Four Marion County girls — Julie Hett, Lori Hett, Theresa Kroupa, and Linda Schaffer — will join 15 other 17-year-old girls competing Tuesday and Wednesday nights for the title of Junior Miss at Tri-County Fair in Herington.

Mrs. Raymond Kraus of Lincolnville is pictured with a pile of spuds. She grew the white potatoes in her home garden, which has produced more than 15 bushels of white potatoes.
