The past gives way, brick-by-brick, to the future. Cornejo and Sons, a Wichita wrecking company, will demolish the Marion National Bank building and the former Waner Ceramic Building.

G&C Construction of Wichita will erect a new, 4,500-square-foot bank on the site of the old building at the corner of 3rd and Main Sts.

Robert J. Keazer, a member of the generation that had to transition through the Roaring ’20s, the Great Depression, and World War II to re-establish themselves into normal living, is the subject of this week’s Personality Profile.

Cornered for a flick of a shutter, clowns rated best Saturday in the Parade of Clowns at the second annual July Jamboree included best-dressed clown Georgie Vogel, kissing-bandit clown Janice Case, and children’s clown Kay Lynn Summervill.

Winner of this week’s Produce Derby is Cecil Slifer, who grew a 2 pound 11 ounce Detroit dark red beet in his vegetable garden south of Marion.
