The biggest snowstorm of the season struck Thursday morning, unloading more than a foot of the white stuff on Marion County and strangling transportation for nearly two days.

Nancy Tharp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wood of Marion, has been accepted into the spring nursing class at Butler County Community College, El Dorado.

May 31 is the date Marissa Kay Kukuk and her fiancé Gail Lee Makovec have selected for their wedding date. Nuptial vows will be read at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Perry, Oklahoma.

Polly Ferrell has been selected by the Marion-Florence chapter of National Education Association as the school district’s nominee for master teacher.

Other teachers considered for nomination were Jeff Brewer, Steve Hart, Steve Janzen, Susan Reid, and Rex Wilson.
