For the second year in a row, the City of Marion placed first in community development at an annual Pride awards convention Saturday in Salina. Marion placed highest among 12 cities of comparable population. Judges said the city received 100 out of 100 possible points.
Drivers were less than pleased this week when animal traffic on county roads reached a peak. Four animals — three deer and a cow — were killed as they crossed paths with motorists.
Soccer has been learned and enjoyed by Marion children this past spring and fall. The group will re-form in the spring.

St. Luke Hospital moved another step closer to building a clinic near the hospital at 1014 E. Melvin St. The hospital board accepted a bid from Abbott Construction, Salina, to build the 4,800-square-foot complex, equipped for three physicians’ offices and one dentistry practice.
Marion Warriors battled their last football foe of the season Friday, taking third place at the end of a 5-4 season.
According to extension home economist Debra Byarlay, a Christmas ideas fair sponsored by the Extension Council will usher in the holiday season Nov. 21 at Hillsboro City Building.
