Braving a chilly wind and 38-degree temperatures, 50 people attended groundbreaking Monday afternoon for the new medical office building adjacent to St. Luke Hospital.
Jackie S. Robinson of Wichita has been appointed court reporter for Judge Nicholas Klein in the Eighth Division of Sedgwick County District Court. She is a 1976 graduate of Marion High School. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Edwin H. Robinson Sr., Florence.
More than 200 4-H members and their families attended Saturday night’s Marion County 4-H Achievement Banquet at St. Mark’s Activity Center, Marion. The annual event is sponsored by Marion Chamber of Commerce and Scully Estates.
Florence State Bank will celebrate its 75th anniversary with an open house Dec. 5. The bank was founded in 1905 and has been serving the Florence community ever since.
ADVERTISEMENT — The Coors aluminum recycle truck of DeBauge Bros, Emporia, will be in Marion at Dave’s IGA parking lot from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dec. 3 paying 26 cents a pound for aluminum beer and soft drink cans and 1 cent each for any Coors bottle.
Sharon Anderson, daughter of Stanley and Evelyn Anderson of Marion, studied microbiology and chemistry as a University of Kansas undergraduate and now is deep into another discipline: law. In the past two years, Anderson has sought a variety of legal experiences that have left her with the desire to practice law after she graduates in May.
