Winter descended over Marion County Wednesday night as an early blizzard swept across Kansas out of the northwest. In some places, it brought near record low temperatures for this time of the year.
Junior Bredemeier was named city superintendent by the commission Monday evening. He will replace Luther Griffin, who goes to Anthony to take on expanded duties there.
Pvt. Kenneth D. Nienstedt, who has been stationed at Fort Gordon, Ga., got his discharge Thursday afternoon. He lit out for home, 1200 miles away, on a motorcycle he had bought for transportation to and from the post. Having several mishaps on the trip, he says a 300- or 400-mile trip now seems like nothing.
Everyone helped Nov. 1 when ground was broken for the addition to Our Savior Lutheran Church, Marion.
Ronald and Donald Druse, twin sons of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Druse, were hosts at a Halloween party in their home. Prizes for the best costumes went to Jean Morse and to Rocky Hett. The evening was spent playing game, having a scavenger hunt, and dancing.
