OCTOBER 13, 1960

Ron Oelschlager, outstanding Marion High School senior, is the “Junior Kiwanian” for October, announces Principal Merlin Keely. Each month a student from the school is given this title, and invited to meet with the men of the Marion Kiwanis Club at their regular weekly luncheons.

Four days of August next year, the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th, will be the biggest in many, many years in Marion. Perhaps the biggest ever. They are the days that have been officially set aside for a huge Centennial Celebration—part of the 1961 Kansas Centennial celebration, and a local centennial celebration as well.

Construction of a modern new bowling alley in Marion is slated to start soon, according to local investors who are to build the structure. The bowling alley will be located just south of the new Texaco station at the east edge of town. The building will be financed by nine local investors.

Several representatives of Case and Son Insurance Agency here were in Wichita this week to participate in the three-day conference of the Kansas Association of Independent Insurance Agents, Inc. They were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. DuVall, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Case, Mr. and Mrs. Rosse B. Case, and Alex H. Case.

The month of October is giving all a treat with its fine autumn weather.
