A group from Marion is planning to travel to Wichita this Saturday in a caravan to hear Senator John Kennedy, Democratic presidential candidate, who will make a major campaign speech at Lawrence Stadium.
A perfect specimen of Indian stone masonry was unearthed this week at the Lysle Russell residence where excavation for a garage footing was underway. The relic, a well-shaped red granite grinding stone, was buried some 15 inches under the surface.
Marion Kiwanis Club on Monday voted to purchase up to $2,500 in common stock to help finance the Marion celebration next summer, which will be a joint Centennial-Old Settlers’ affair in August.
The fact that good fruit can be grown in this part of the country is illustrated again this year—it has been a good year for fruit. This week, Mrs. Earl Morse brought in a Stamen Winesap apple, grown in their yard, along with cherries and pears. Other fruit growers have had good results with peaches, apricots and plums. Paul Kelseys have a date tree that bore fruit this season.

Members of the New Ida Club and their families enjoyed a wiener roast Monday evening in the new large corncrib recently built by Jake Stenzel on their place in the Strassburg community.
