The school hot lunches for high school students and faculty members this year will be 30 cents, an increase of five cents.

Two Marion girls are among the 13 charming young ladies entered in competition Friday for the title of Marion County Fair Queen. They are Lucinda Anne Hauser, sponsored by the Marion Chamber of Commerce, and Patsy Ann Slusser, sponsored by the Marion Kiwanis Club.

Births announced this week include those of a son, Michael Wayne, born Aug. 18 to Mr. and Mrs. Max Car, rural Marion; a son, William Joseph, born Aug. 20 to Mr. and Mrs. Theo Holub; a daughter, Gail Elaine, born Aug. 20 to Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Regier, rural Peabody; and a daughter, Cynthia Rene, born Aug. 21 to Mr. and Mrs. Warren Goentzel, rural Hillsboro.

Deanna Klenda, Pilsen Lucky 13 4-H Club, was selected as Champion Demonstrator at the annual Marion County 4-H Club demonstration contest Aug. 18 at the Hillsboro City Building. Deanna gave a demonstration on making different types of yeast rolls. Jerold Spohn, Tampa Triple T’s, was named Reserve Champion. He demonstrated techniques of saw sharpening.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Edmunds and Michael invited guests for ice cream and cake Friday evening in honor of their daughter, Kathy Diane’s, second birthday.
