Ross Hansen, farmer living in the Aulne neighborhood, was arrested Tuesday night and charged with cattle theft.
The Marion County commissioners this week entered into an agreement with W.I. Fisher and Company, Wichita architectural firm, to submit conditional plans for a new county rest home.
This year of 1961 is Centennial Year in Kansas. Here in Marion, a gigantic 4-day celebration will be staged in August with observances, preferably on Wednesday, set aside for each week.
Old timers and moderns alike will gather this Sunday afternoon for an old-time “Singspiration.” The union service will involve the churches of Marion cooperating through the Ministerial Alliance.
Albert Holder, Marion’s veteran barber, passed his 67th year of barbering in Marion last November, giving him the longest term of such service in the state. Al was a little irritated by a Topeka newspaper article that said their barber had been in the business longer than anyone in the state. That man had been barbering for only 65 years.
Miss Shirley Lucas, senior operator of the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, will attend an organization and policy conference on Thursday and Friday at the Lassen Hotel in Wichita.
