Quadruplet calves were born on St. Patrick’s Day to one of the cows at the farm of Charlie Heerey in the Spring Branch neighborhood. Unfortunately, none survived. The odds for such a rarity are said to be 100,000 to one.

Marion High School’s contest play, “The Last Curtain,” received a top “I” rating at the district play festival in Clay Center last Friday. Members of the cast pictured on the front page are Janet Stiller, Jerry Schwemmer, Tuck Tucker, James Melton, Julia Wooldridge, and Pat Longhofer.

Charles Maggard of Gound Motor Company was presented a special Ford Motor Company award at a banquet in Wichita Tuesday honoring high-ranking leadership car and truck salesmen of 1960 in the company’s Kansas City sales district.

The Warriors thin-clad squad, tutored by Coach Ed Frickey, will enter the Kansas State indoor at Manhattan on Saturday. Boys involved are John Christensen, Jerry Domke, Don Druse, Maurice Just, Gerald Kelsey, Gary Maltbie, Larry Maltbie, Ronald Oelschlager, and John Russell.

Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Hajek of Tampa were among 228 Farmers Union members to board six buses March 11 for a weeklong trip to Washington, D.C., where the group attended the annual National Farmers Union convention and enjoyed side trips to historical points of interest
