Mr. and Mrs. Henry Metzler announced this week that they have leased their cafe and station on East Main to Mrs. Francis Johnson of Marion. The business will be known as Louise’s Drive-In.

Marion’s largest annual banquet, the combination Ladies Night and Honor Banquet, sponsored jointly by the Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Club, will have an outstanding speaker on their program this year. He is Nyle H. Miller, executive secretary of the Kansas State Historical Society.

Three Marion High School juniors will be going to Sunflower State this year. Diana Kay Goertz and Deanna Kay Klenda will attend Sunflower Girls’ State on the University of Kansas campus and Dick Morse will attend Boys’ State at Wichita High School West.

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. H. Richmond of Lincolnville announce the engagement of their daughter, Doris Jean, to Gene F. Winkler, son of Mrs. Lucille Winkler of Axtell. No wedding date has been set.

Jimmy Bredemeier, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bredemeier, was guest of honor Saturday at a party at his parents’ home in honor of his fourth birthday. Favors of balloons and bubble magic were given to the following guests: Rhonda Richmond, Rodney Richmond, Mark Rindt, Jerry and Scott Conyers, Jeri, Joni, and Jaci Yaussi, Ronnie Ehrlich, Allen Richmond and Jim’s brother, Don Bredemeier.
