Work on the new concrete arch bridge in northeast Marion County, near Elk, is progressing satisfactorily, according to the County Engineer’s office.

Rex Siebert’s entries in the annual Hereford Spring Show made a clean sweep of the champion ribbons in the breeding classes. Siebert showed the Grand Champion bull and the Grand and Reserve Grand Champion female. He also showed the top pair of bulls, heifers, yearlings, and calves, showed top Get of Sire, and best six head.

Susan Marler of Marion Girl Scout Troop 61 was give special recognition at the Flint Hills Girl Scout Spring Council in Emporia April 3 for selling the largest number of boxes of Girl Scout cookies in District 1. Susan sold 73 boxes and received a Girl Scout charm bracelet as a reward.

An organizational meeting will be held Monday evening to start a Marion City Bowling Association. This is being done in conjunction with the nearing opening of the new MarBowl Lanes, modern 8-lane automatic alleys being constructed in Marion.

Miss Lenore Wheeler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David W. Wheeler, will present a graduate voice recital in the Fine Arts Center Concert Hall at Wichita University April 17. The recital partially fulfills requirements needed for a master’s degree in music education, which Miss Wheeler will receive this spring.
