Final negotiations are underway for construction of a modern, new motel in Marion. Initial construction plans call for 12 units and an office. The new motel will be located in the 1300 block of East Main Street on the south side, just east of the Berry Texaco Station. The promoter and owner of the new business is W.E. Jones and his partner of the S and J Sales Company of Kansas City.

Several days of heavy rainfall over a wide area last weekend caused flood apprehension among businessmen and residents in low-lying portions of Marion, Florence, and several other nearby Kansas cities.

Announcement was made this week that Miss Esther Twente, Kansas University professor of social sciences, will be the new project chairman of the Marion County Golden Years. She will replace Mrs. Cyril Reznicek.
