Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Herman Sr. this week announced they have purchased the interest of B.J. Allen in MarBowl Lanes. John Zimmer and Max Ewert have been retained on the staff and will assist the Hermans and their son Tim.
General Motors announced this week they have awarded the Pontiac franchise in Marion to Cook Motor Co. C.E. Cook recently purchased Elling Motor Co. parts and equipment and has now been awarded the Pontiac and Tempest franchise.
Eileen Pavey of Marion is one of several future teachers awarded $300 scholarships at Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia for the 1961-62 year. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Pavey, she plans to be an elementary school teacher.
Top honors for floats in the Old Settlers Centennial parade were awarded to the following, in this order: Evangelical United Brethren Church, Christian Church, Liberty Belles, and Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Vernon Vogel entertained with a party Saturday afternoon in honor of Gregory’s fourth birthday. Guests were Rhonda, Rodney, and Randy Richmond, Ann and Tim Christensen, Ronnie Ehrlich, Mrs. Ezra Vogel, Mrs. Ralph Richmond, Mrs. Morris Lee Ehrlich, and Mrs. Eugene Christensen.
