The old Ground Hog sure saw his shadow in Marion County Tuesday, foretelling another six weeks of winter weather. But other more professional meteorological prognosticators say ’taint so.
Warren Vogel’s 15 field goals and 5 free throws for a total of 35 points in Friday’s win over Hillsboro set a new basketball scoring record at Marion High School. The previous record, held by Larry Schlehuber, was 34 points.
“Cinderella’s Slipper” the Hill Grade School operetta, will be given Feb. 8 at the city building. Leading parts will be played by Judy Pankratz, Cinderella LaVonda Hett, fairy godmother; Cheri Bell, stepmother; Jacquie Cogdill, stepsister Javotte; Barbara Musgrave, stepsister Charlotte; and Lonny Stage, Lord High Chamberlain.
Ten more names were added this week to the honor list of gallon donors to the Red Cross blood bank. They are Harlow Warneke, Anton Vinduska, Earl Pankratz, Eugene Costello, Wm. K. Holmes, Mrs. Wm. K. Holmes, James B. Miesse, Mrs. Homer Stiller, Ezra Bernhardt, and Mrs. S.W. Gound.
