Warren Vogel, star of the Marion Warriors basketball team, took school scoring honors last week when he made 46 points in the game against Abilene at the District Class A tournament held Friday night. The team record previously was held jointly by Jim Christensen and Larry Schlehuber with 45.
Four federated clubs of Marion combined last week to present a new television set to St Luke Hospital. The set is a much-appreciated addition to the convalescent patients’ lounge and recreation room.
Harriet Miller, senior at Centre High School, was crowned “Queen of the Court” at the Tampa-Centre basketball game Friday night. Her attendants were Madeline Riffel, Carol Miller, Ann Falen, and Sandra Janzen.
Births announced in the issue included Ronald Warren Woerz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Woerz, who was born March 1 at St. Luke Hospital.
The Brownie troops of Marion sold 576 boxes of cookies in their sale of Girl Scout cookies this year. High sales were made by Cindy Powell, Susan Marler, and Shirley Helmer.
