The 20-pound 7-ounce channel catfish, caught recently on a rod and reel by Clive Jarvis at the Marion County Park and Lake, won the June contest being conducted by Bill Brooks and his KTVH sponsors. Jarvis’s prizes were a Coleman cooler and Coleman jug.
The 1960 wheat harvest in Marion County, surprisingly good when judged by earlier estimates, is all but over. Only a few straggling fields and odds and ends are yet to be cut, with most of the stubble fields already feeling the plow.
Myron Jantz and D.W. Wheeler passed their bar examination June 27 and 28 and were sworn-in June 29. Mrs. D.B. Jantz and Mrs. David Wheeler attended the swearing-in ceremony in the Capitol building in the morning and other activities in the afternoon.
The Boy Scout organization in Marion took a new lease on life the past week and sponsors are optimistic about the chances for a fine Scout program here.
The Peabody Kiwanis Club, through their youth committee, is sponsoring a twice-a-week bus to the Marion Municipal Pool for all swimmers who wish to use it. The bus will make the trip each Tuesday and Friday afternoon.
Diana Goertz, representing Marion County at the state 4-H Health Conference at Rock Spring Ranch, was one of the 12 blue ribbon winners chosen for their outstanding health activities.
