This year’s MHS Christmas Spectacular will be at 8p.m. Thursday at the Marion City Building. Four soloists, Connie Jost, Judy Broadstreet, Anita Schlehuber, and Deanna Klenda, and an old man, portrayed by James Meisner Jr., will help unfold the unusual choral drama of the nativity.

Mr. and Mrs. Gary Carlson honored their children, Cindy and Greg, with a family gathering and dinner Sunday observing their birthdays. Cindy was one year old Dec. 13 and Greg was four years old Dec. 19.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Schwartz and Thane are now making their home at 424 South Freeborn. Mrs. Schwartz is the former Margie Bernhardt. Mr. Schwartz was recently discharged from the service and is now employed at Marion Hardware Store.

Scott Miesse and Claire Lynn Fruechting were the honored guests at a birthday party held Saturday afternoon at the J.B. Miesse home. Scott was two years old Dec. 20 and Claire Lynn was five Dec. 13. Present to help them celebrate were Mrs. Don Fruechting, Terry and Kevin, Mrs. Jack Taylor and Bruce, Mrs. Gene Christensen, Ann and Timmy, Mrs. Dwight Fruechting and Pam, Janet Varenhorst, and Anita Hoffman.

A unique Christmas program was held at the Christian Church Sunday evening. A capacity crowd filled the sanctuary for a service of “The Hanging of the Greens”, a possible good “tradition” for the church to continue.
