The new AAA Oil Company filling station northeast of Marion is holding a “Grand Opening” this weekend, according to an announcement by Bill Hein, operator. The station is located at the junction of K-150 and U.S. 77/56.

Mrs. Leslie Powell has been named safe driver for the month of April, and Tim Williams is the month’s teenage safe driver, according to the United Traffic Safety Commission of Marion.

The sanctuary of the Marion Methodist Church was the setting May 6 for the wedding of Marilyn Ann Loveless and Glenn L. Waltner. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Henry Loveless and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Waltner.

Births announced in the “Look Who’s Here” column this week included Jamie Lea, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Richmond of Marion, who was born May 6 at St. Luke Hospital; and Kelly Ann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary A. Bartlett, also born on May 6 at St. Luke Hospital.

Beverly Bredemeier, daughter of Mrs. Velma Bredemeier of Norborne, Mo., and the late Floyd Bredemeier, and Robert Jirak, son of Mr. and Mrs. Godfrey Jirak of Marion, exchanged wedding vows May 5 in St. John’s Nep. Church, Pilsen.

The Marion Warriors mile relay team composed of Jackson, Kelsey, Druse, and Krispense took first place Saturday at the annual CVL meet at Emporia. Also taking first place was the medley relay team of Williams, Druse, Krispense, and Maltbie.
