Mrs. Fred (Hope) Koch was the honored guest at a luncheon last Thursday noon in Newton following her retirement from active service after nearly 22 years with the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.
Mr. and Mrs. George Helmer of Marion announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Barbara, to Jerry Bessel, son of Mrs. Lorena Bessel, also of Marion. A December wedding is planned.

Mrs. Don Fruechting entertained Ricky Just, Tim Hett, Eddie and Elden Hett, Claire Lynn Fruechting, and Terry and Michael Fruechting at a wiener roast Tuesday evening in honor of Kevin Fruechting’s sixth birthday.
“The Miracle Worker,” a dramatization of the real life story of Helen Keller, will be presented Nov. 20 by Marion High School seniors. The part of Helen Keller will be played by Neva Kelsey. Connie Jost will portray Annie Sullivan while Dick Maggard will play Capt. Keller and Carol Caselman, Kate Keller. Directors of the play are Miss Irma Wymore and Marlyn Friesen.
