Marion’s summer recreational program for boys and girls, directed by Lowell Ensey, will jump off to a fine start Monday, June 7.
The county has authorized the installation of an auxiliary power unit they own (from old Cedar Reset) to take care of the county police and emergency radio power in case of possible failure of the normal source.
Good food, in the form of big thick slices of choice pit barbecued beef, was well received Saturday evening at the athletic grounds east of Marion by those attending the annual Spring Show. Marion Chamber of Commerce carvers John Just, Ezra Schimpf, and Matt Classen, were kept busy for several hours in one of the two serving lines.
The two top honor students in Tampa High School’s graduating class of 1965 are Rose Marie Holub, valedictorian, and Robert Mueller, salutatorian.
Theresa Smolik was guest of honor at a party at her home Thursday after school honoring her 13th birthday. Guests were Patty Endres, Laura Hein, Diana Franklin, Debbie Bell, Lina Rose, Vickie Boese, Vickie and Cora Klassen, Rita and Janet Stika, Jeanette Giles, Marilyn Bezdek, Teresa Hornbeck, Carol Waner and Kathy Smolik.
Darrell Riffel of Marion will graduate June 6 from Kansas State University with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. He will be practicing in a small animal clinic in Little Rock, Arkansas.
