Candidates for this year’s Marion County Fair Queen contest include Rebecca Berry and Tina Holmes of Marion and Gloria Lewerenz, Linda Strome, Carol Lehmann of Lincolnville.

Steve Krispense, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Krispense, and a member of the Marion FFA Chapter, is one of seven Future Farmers of America from Kansas named this week to receive the organization’s highest degree, that of “American Farmer.” Presentation will be at the FFA convention in Kansas City Oct. 13-15.

George Jackson, MHS senior, was among 170 high school student government leaders who attended the second annual Student Council Workshop last week at Fort Hays State College.

Friends will be interested in the outcome of the Shutterbug Contest in Wichita Sunday since LaVonda Hett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hett, will be one of the contestants. She is being sponsored by the Patricia Stevens School in Wichita.

Rhonda, Rodney, and Randy Richmond, children of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Richmond, were tonsillectomy patients at St. Luke Hospital this week.

No one was present Wednesday to receive their prize in the Cash Day drawing. Mrs. Frank Soukup, Marion, missed $100, Clarence Kline, Marion, missed $15, Ralph Z. Willcut, Marion, missed $10, Mrs. W.C. Johnson, Marion, missed $5, and Frances Dixon, Marion, missed $20.
