A business change of major importance took place in Marion this week when Art Jantz purchased the interest of Dan Pankratz in what was formerly known as Al & Dan’s Quality Food Market. The store will now be known as Al & Art’s Quality Food Market. Jantz has been in charge of the meat department at the store ever since Al Heidebrecht and Dan Pankratz opened for business nearly 13 years ago.

Girls Staters Judy Pankratz and Cheri Bell and Norman Bowers, George Jackson, and Wally Slusser, Boys Staters, gave reports on their recent activities at Lawrence at the regular meeting of James William Miesse American Legion Post last Thursday evening .

Class reunions will be a big part of Old Settlers Day in Marion on Saturday. Several members of the class of 1915 will be here. Other class reunions will include the classes of 1905, 1925, 1935, 1945, and 1955.

Jo Marie Mueller celebrated her birthday Saturday afternoon with a party in her backyard. Guests were her classmates, Teresa Case, Becky Wood, Karen Pankratz, Dotty Lentz, Susie Lundgren, Sue Woerz, Debbie Douglas, and Linda Goentzel.

Mrs. Lawrence Winkley and son Jerry are pictured receiving a portable television set from Mrs. Gerald Hill as part of the grand opening of the Sears catalog order store in Marion.
