The public response to the low-cost polio clinic in Marion County has been terrific. In Marion Wednesday, 577 shots were given, bringing the total in the county to date at 2107.

Claud Dixon, for nearly 40 years foreman of this newspaper’s mechanical department, died Saturday morning at St. Luke Hospital.

Eight Wisconsin 4-H club members will be visiting next week in Marion County. Youths will stay at the homes of W.H. Janzen, Albert Klenda, Paul Epp, John Warkentin, John Berns, Joe Gaines, Paul Jewell, and Ike Thiessen.

Mrs. Harold Woerz gave a birthday party Tuesday afternoon in honor of her daughter, Rae Jean. Guests included Jay and Sue Woerz, Ruth Morse, Barry Wayne, Norman Ray, and Joan Marie Mueller of Canada, Linda Caselman, Paula McGinness, and Cherri Ottensmeier.

The Sub Deb Club held its annual initiation of new members Saturday evening. Initiates were Judy Richards, Rose Melcher, Sharon Blankley, Geraldine Davis, Mary Cook, Beverly Winter, Delores Lucas, Mary Jane Keller, Eileen Pavey, Julia Wooldridge, Pat Longhofer, and Tressie Miles.
