Two Nationalist Chinese girls, Grace Chen and Rena Su, graduate students at Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia, are pictured as they enjoyed their first ever snowball fight Monday in front of the Record office with their Marion County classmates, friends and hosts, Edith and Norma Frick of Durham.

Rendel Newsom, Marion florist, is pictured as he receives a certificate, gold “droplet pin,” and lapel buttons for having completed donations of a total of eight gallons of blood to the Red Cross Blood Bank.

Katherine Swan of Marion received $100 in this week’s Cash Days drawing. Not present when their names were drawn were Ardella Gray of Peabody and Mrs. Ivan L. Winter, Kenneth D. Nienstedt, and Frank Layton, all of Marion.

The program at the regular PTA meeting January 24 was a discussion of Modern Math. The program was well received and the teachers, Maude Thompson, Wilma Ewert, Ruth Montgomery, Marilyn Gerbrandt, Helen Klassen, and Martha Barr are to be commended for a fine presentation.

Very cold weather has been hanging around for the major part of a week. Snow commenced falling early Monday morning and continued throughout most of the day and night. Farmers are hoping that the near zero temperatures will kill the green bugs that are infesting wheat fields.
