The Rock Island Railroad station in Marion is about to be replaced with a new pre-fabricated building. The new station will have a small waiting room, office, and freight room.
Among the 10 Marion County Fair Queen candidates are Claudette Hodges, Florence; Gaila Jost and Patsy Ann Slusser, Marion; and Jeanine Tiemeier, Lincolnville. Sharon Wiederstein of Hillsboro, Jeanine, and Patsy Ann have been selected as the three finalists.
The school building, land, and all the equipment of Antelope School, District No. 2, will be sold at public auction Oct. 3.
William Hammer, who has been sick and unable to get his hay in the barn, was pleasantly surprised Sunday when 10 boys came to his farm and put all of his baled hay in the barn. The boys were Dennis Pankratz, Tim Williams, Rocky Hett, Gary and Larry Maltbie, Ronald and Donald Druse, Jerry Siebert, Harvey Sanders, and Gary Helmer.
Dean Duke, Marion County health sanitarian, was in Glenwood Springs, Colo., last week attending a meeting of the National Association of Milk and Food Sanitarians.
Edward “Oscar” Davies has joined the sales staff of Cook and Cook Furniture and Appliance Center. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Davies of Lawrence, formerly of Marion.
