Congressman Ed Rees this morning told the Record by telephone from Washington that the eventual construction of the Marion flood control dam and reservoir was a certainty.
A new state Highway Patrolman, Franklin D. Boyle, has been assigned to this district and will assist Patrolman B.C. Powell, it was announced this week.
Coach Ed Frickey reports that 49 boys have reported out for football this season. Twelve are seniors, 12 are juniors, 10 sophomores, and 15 freshmen.
Jeanine Tiemeier of Lincolnville was crowned “Miss Marion County Fair” of 1959 by last year’s winner, Mary Lou Conyers of Marion.
Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Pierce and Mr. and Mrs. Hazel Meierhoff left Sunday for a week’s vacation at Kirkwood Lodge, Osage, Mo.
The 1949 graduating class of Marion High School held its first reunion Sept. 5. Festivities began with an afternoon family get-together at Marion County Lake lodge building and culminated with dinner served by Kingfisher Inn, at the lodge building, then dancing to the music of Everett Burkhead’s Hi-Fi.
