The Marion flood-control dike and ditch on Luta Creek was one of the projects included in President Gerald Ford’s proposed budget for the coming year. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project is listed to receive $1.3 million for fiscal 1977.
Marion County Pizza Hut at the east edge of Hillsboro on US-56 will open for business Feb. 2.
Marion Countians have become accustomed to low flights of F-105 fighter-bombers out of McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita. But the “big birds” going over recently are the Strategic Air Command’s B-52s and FB-111s.
These much larger planes will continue until January, 1977, flying low-level practice missions along a route that starts in Arkansas and terminates near Salina.
Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Gleason of Florence are parents of the first baby born at St. Luke Hospital in 1976. Their daughter, Wendi Lea, was born Jan. 21 and weighed 8 pounds 1 ounce.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kjellin, Marion, announce the engagement of their daughter, Patricia Jo, to Daryl Ray Enos, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Enos, also of Marion. An August wedding is planned.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Summerville and Mr. and Mrs. John Summerville, Stephanie and Jason were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. I.R. Gerstenkorn in honor of the Jack Summervilles’ 30th wedding anniversary.
