Marion City Library is thriving with many services available. Marion Centre Library Association Inc. was founded in 1881. In 1893, its collection of books was housed in the YMCA building. Two years later, the library closed, and stayed that way until 1902, when it was restarted. The library moved to its present location in the City Building upon completion of that building in October, 1938.

The Gerry Harris family was honored Monday night at a Kiwanis picnic in Central Park. They will receive the Kiwanis Family of Builders award for Kansas later this month at a convention in Hays.

Marion Senior Scout Troop 61 returned recently from a weekend trip to Branson, Missouri. Those on the trip were Kay Blackman, Ann Christensen, Carol Colburn, Barbara Costello, Terri Enos, Molly Ferrell, Lori Harris, and Julie Zerger. Leaders are Sue Harris and Margaret Wilson.

Marion’s girls’ softball team won the recent Hesston Invitational. Players on the team include Marty Beaston, Bev Bezdek, Janice Bowers, Sandy Bridges, Carol Colburn, Debbie Enos, Cindy Friesen, Wava Ireland, Sandy Marler, Lori Schmidtberger, and Jandee Smith.
