The “official family” of Marion County consists of Mrs. Viola W. Klassen, county superintendent; Commissioners Ed Nicklaus, George Jost, and George Merilatt; Mrs. Lillian Pierce, register of deeds; Fred D. Allen, county clerk; P.F. Quiring, county treasurer; James Meisner, county engineer; C.J. Ross, clerk of the district court; Ezra Bernhardt, sheriff; Henry F. Loveless, probate judge; and Roger H. Morse, county attorney.
A major Main Street remodeling project is being completed this week for the law firm of David W. Wheeler and Edwin G. Westerhaus. They will move into their new quarters in the former Good building at 318 East Main over the weekend.
Donna Janzen, 15, of Florence is the winner of the 1959 Kansas 4-H Cherry Pie Baking Contest. Donna, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Janzen and the Marion County winner, was one of 62 girls who competed in the bake-off.
Roy E. Pientka of Marion and Edwin J. Tajchman of Tampa have executive positions on committee for the 35th annual Engineers Open House at Kansas State College, Manhattan.
Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Fisher and family are moving this week into the residence at the county jail where he will serve as jailer in addition to his duties as custodian at the courthouse. The Henry Loveless family moved over the weekend from the jail residence to their new home purchased from George Helmer.
Mrs. George Heidel asked guests last Wednesday afternoon for a party for her daughter, Sara Ann, to celebrate her seventh birthday. Those present included Donna Ewert, Janel Klose, Rita Lais, Jeanie Massey, Anita Schubert, Becky Shuster, Patsy Wood, Beverly Klein, Sara Ann’s sisters, Debra and Norma Jean, and her brother, Larry.
