Chester Lauck, or “Lum,” of the “Lum and Abner” radio and film fame will be the featured speaker at the annual ladies night honor banquet sponsored jointly by Kiwanis and Chamber of Commerce. The event will be held Feb. 18 at the Marion City Building.
Another small industry, Carlson-Foree Tire Company, will open in Marion about March 1. It will be a complete tire service plant including the latest modern equipment for tire recapping. The business will be located in the C.C. Johnson building at the corner of First and Main streets.
The annual three one-act plays will be presented by the Thespians of Marion High School Feb. 12 at the city auditorium. Leads in the first play, an unusual comedy, will be played by Beverly Bredemeier and Ed Siebert. The second play of the evening will be a farce given by nine boys. And the last play of the evening is the festival selection “Major Milliron Reports.” Jim Gilbert, Jay Pankratz, and Leland Deines will play the characters in this tense drama.
