The Kansas 4-H cherry pie-baking champion, Donna Janzen of Florence, won regional reserve championship honors in the national contest last Thursday in Chicago. Donna, 15-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Janzen, finished second among 12 state champions and received a $100 savings bond.

Marion High School Dramatics Department won an I rating at the Cottonwood Valley League one-act play festival Feb. 19 at Cottonwood Falls. Cast of Marion’s entry, “Major Milliron Reports,” consisted of James Gilbert, Jay Pankratz, Duane Reed, Lane Broadstreet, and Leland Deines. Milford Hett and Richard Meisinger were responsible for sound effects and lighting.

Donna Holub, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Holub, won a bicycle on the Mickey Mouse program Saturday. Donna, a pupil in the Pilsen Elementary School was at KAKE-TV Saturday to receive her prize.

The Fourth District Federated Clubs were guests of the Council Grove club Feb. 21. Mrs. Harold Wiens of Marion 20th Century Club took second place in the contest for the Ideal Costume for the Club Women’s Wardrobe sponsored by the Vogue Pattern Service. Her prize was a year’s subscription to the Vogue Pattern book.
