Announcement is made this week that Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Bevan of El Dorado will be the new leasors and operators of the county’s convalescent home, “Cedar Rest.” They will assume operation of the home on June 1, taking over from the present operators, Mr. and Mrs. Art Loewen.

Marion is in the need of a new weatherman. Rendel Newsom has resigned as the official government observer here and the job is open. There is considerable equipment that goes with the job and it will be turned over to the new observer.

The 24-hour short wave police and emergency radio service for Marion County should be in operation in about a week, reports Sheriff Ezra Bernhardt.

An authentic early-day stagecoach trunk, carrying the words, “Marion, Kansas,” has been unearthed from among the piles of accumulated material at the old Williams City Market and will be renovated for display at the Marion County Historical Museum.

The Marion Record had a pleasant visit the past week from Mrs. Charles Kjellin. Mr. and Mrs. Kjellin and three daughters, Mary Beth, Karen, and Patricia Jo moved recently to the farm they purchased from Milton Stenzel, north of Marion. They have moved here from the Blue Dam territory, south of Randolph.
