Fifty-six eighth graders will be honored at the annual graduation exercises for rural schools to be held May 8 at Marion City Auditorium. C.C. Rice, former Marion County superintendent, and presently on the staff of the state superintendent’s office, will be the speaker.

One hundred ninety children of Bown-Corby School will present their May Fete, “Mother Goose Honors the Queen,” this Friday evening in the high school gymnasium. Shelly Hett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hett is the Queen of May. Myron Frans, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Frans, is the queen’s consort. Mary Beth Kjellin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kjellin will be Mother Goose.

Mrs. Jess Coons, who recently sold her restaurant here in the Elgin Hotel to Mr. and Mrs. Al Hunt, moved last week to Kansas City, Mo. She has accepted a position as host at the Muehlebach Hotel coffee shop and starts here new work there on Friday.

Miss Wanda Those was guest of honor recently at a miscellaneous shower in honor of her approaching marriage to Dean Williams. Hostesses were Mrs. David Wheeler, Mrs. Wayne Varenhorst, Mrs. James Fruechting, Miss Marjorie Wamser, and Miss Norma Sly.
