The city crew this week has replaced 2,000 feet of old water main on West Santa Fe from the power plant to the Pilsen road. The old pipes were new in 1885, and had needed replacing for years.
Marion will be sprayed by air for worms and bugs that are playing havoc with trees. The spraying will be done by Skip Goodwin, who currently is operating off the local airport. The city will pay the bill. CAA inspectors must approve flying over a city before it can be done.
The senior class of Marion High School left early Monday morning for a three-day trip to the Missouri Ozarks. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Yaussi and Mr. and Mrs. James Criswell are the faculty members accompanying the seniors as sponsors.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman C. Schlesener of Herington announce the engagement of their daughter, Hallie Sue, to Dr. R.L. Novak, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Novak of Lost Springs. No wedding date has been set.
Pilsen Grade School will hold their graduation exercises May 19. Graduates are Dean Bina, Rosalie Stika and Karen Dvorak. Eighth grade graduates of the parish enjoyed breakfast Saturday with Father Tonne. Guests were Dean Bina, Rosalie Stika, Leonard Bina, Jerry Meirowsky, Ruby Stuchlik, Karen Dvorak, and Rose Marie Stika. Paul Hajek was unable to be present because of a foot injury.
