One of the first fields harvested in the central county area Monday was at the Jonah Suderman farm west of Aulne. A week ahead of most predictions, the harvest in Marion County is on in full blast this week. Wheat generally is averaging around 25 bushels per acre.
Another bright addition to the array of signs along Marion’s Main Street is the new ones installed this week on the front of Marion Pharmacy. They are in bright Rexall orange and blue and are colorful and attractive.
Jean Morse entertained Tuesday evening with a hamburger fry followed by a “slumberless party.” Guests were Helen Langley, Cheryl Caselman, Mary Melton, and Sharon Nelson.
Marion County Historical Society now has its charter as an incorporated, non-profit organization. Work is progressing nicely at the museum where new type display cases are been made similar to those used in the state museum in Topeka. Reuben Zerger, local business contractor, is supervising the construction by volunteer workers.
Susan Marler, 8-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Marler, was one of the winners of the Cappy Dick contest sponsored by the Wichita Beacon. Susan colored and finished a picture of George Washington sent to her. She made a copy of a $1 bill out of it. Her prize was a 19-volume set of encyclopedias.
