A largely “unpredicted” snow covered Marion County and most of Kansas Tuesday. It started early in the morning, and by Wednesday morning some six to eight inches had fallen, with the fall still continuing.

The Marion town basketball team won handily over Herington Monday night, with an easy 106-85 victory. Verlin Meier was high man of the game with 41 points. Other Marion players, and their total points, were John Williams 21, Wade Robertson 5, Jerry Richards 5, Hoopes 10, Christensen 12 and Tom Shirley 12.

First prize in last Wednesday’s Cash Day went to Leland Chizek of Marion, who received $50. Third prize went to Mrs. Rex Siebert, who claimed $5. Mrs. Louis Kroupa of Pilsen failed to claim $45. Vernon Waner of Marion missed $5, and Mrs. Frank Gilbert of Lincolnville missed $15.

Mr. and Mrs. Ronald D. Kirkpatrick of Florence announce the arrival of a son, born Dec. 27, at St. Luke Hospital. He has been named Ronald Duane.

The Tampa Alumni Association held its annual banquet Dec. 27 at Tampa High School. Officers for the meeting were Tommy Duggan, president; Leo Costello, vice president; Mrs. Edson Childs, secretary, and Mrs. Donald Frick, treasurer. The evening concluded with a dance at the Catholic parish hall with the Stardusters playing.

Miss Carol Jean Krispense, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Krispense of Marion, and H. Edwin Riffel, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Riffel of Herington, were united in holy matrimony Dec. 27 at Strassburg Baptist Church.
