One block of Marion’s Main Street is being widened this week as a test measure. If the proposal works as expected, than other blocks on the north side of the street will be widened and eventually the south side will be widened.

Not least among the attractions at the MHS Homecoming game Friday was the crowning of the 1963 Homecoming Queen. The Queen is Mary Teresa Konarik, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Konarik. Her two attendants are Tina Holmes, daughter of Mr. and Mr. Wm. K. Holmes, and Judy Broadstreet, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Broadstreet.

Miscellaneous bridal showers held this week honored Joyce Klein, bride-elect of Jerry Olsen, and Carol Reznicek, bride-elect of Robert Makovec.

Three employees of St. Luke Hospital were honored Oct. 22 for completing 10 years of service at the hospital. They are Tony Schafers, maintenance engineer; Mary Schafers, laundry; and W.J. Schafers, grounds keeper. Each was presented with a 10-year service pin.

Pictured are Mrs. Earl Olsen and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Lais and Rita, as they attended Parents’ Day at Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia. Their daughters, Helen Olsen and Ruth Lais, are freshmen at the college.
