The annual Christmas opening will be on the Friday after Thanksgiving.

The new Evangelical United Brethren Church in Marion will be dedicated in special services this Sunday. Activities will include conducted tours of the church plant, with refreshments served in Fellowship Hall.

The 1963 Marion Warriors wound up their season Friday night in a blaze of glory, giving fans one of the best exhibitions of all-around good football seen in a long time, and gaining in the process a tie with Herington for first place in the CVL.

Dr. John Wesley DeMand, 77, for almost 50 years a practicing physician in Lincolnville, pass├ęd away Saturday, two days after suffering a coronary thrombosis.

Gary Hamm and Bob Leppke were painfully hurt Sunday afternoon in a coyote hunting mishap. Riding in an open car driven by Harold Olsen, a low barbed wire fence was driven over. It snapped at a distance from the car, whip-lashing back and striking Gary across the neck. He was rushed to the hospital where 31 stitches were required to close the wound. Bob lifted his arm as a shield and was cut to the bone on his right forearm. It required nine stitches. Both boys are recovering satisfactorily.
