Mayor Ira Newcomer proclaimed Monday as one of mourning for our late President John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated Friday.

Some 150 junior class students from the high schools of Marion County will gather in Marion Dec. 3 to take part in the annual “County Government Day” sponsored by the American Legion and Legion Auxiliary.

A modern new Hassman dairy case has been added to the fixtures at Al and Dan’s Quality Food Market this week. The case was sold and installed by Keller Refrigerator of Marion.

Among the 65 prospective students visiting the Westmar College campus in LaMars, Iowa, the weekend of Nov. 2 were Marion students Linda McElwain, Larry Ensey, Ruth Hett, and Wayne Ewert.

James F. Meisner, Marion County Civil Defense director, reports the updating of the national fallout shelter survey and marking program is scheduled to get underway Nov. 22 in Marion County.

Conyers Flowers, located at the south end of Lincoln St., will have an open house this coming Sunday in its new fiberglass building. New ways to decorate for Christmas will be featured.
